Following up with a client is perhaps one of the hardest tasks a company can deal with. But thanks to agencies specializing in debt recovery in the Netherlands among other countries, businesses can now focus on what they do best and let the experts handle the collections.
No one likes to be contacted by a debt collector, or worse, bump into them on their way home or to the office. In fact, debt collectors are the most complained about business – and it’s easy to see why. When someone isn’t paying what they owe, they are likely going through a difficult patch in their lives and could use some peace.
But unfortunately, businesses have to go on. Creditors need to be able to stay afloat and carry on with their business. And without the payment, that wouldn’t be possible. Again, no one is forced to borrow money. And if one owes a debt, it is because they decided to borrow money, the lender issued that loan based on the person’s promise to repay and have a right to their money. The collectors tasked with debt recovery in the Netherlands are only trying to reclaim what’s ethically and legally owed by the client.
Here’s a quick question, what happens if the debtor is slippery when it comes to payment?
Dealing with a defaulting client – especially those that try to hide – is one of the biggest challenges that credit lenders face. Luckily, there are a couple of things that one can do to get these lenders to pay, and are as follows
Accept different payment methods
Thanks to innovation, it is now possible for debtors to pay through a range of ways. Unlike a while ago, when people mainly paid via banker’s cheque, now they can do direct bank transfers, credit cards, online payments, among other stuff. These methods allow creditors to receive money instantly and also reduce the chances of a bouncing check. In a nutshell, the more payment methods a lender offers, the fewer excuses the debtors will have to neglect to pay.
Find out how much they can pay today
Asking a lender how much money they can pay today is an excellent move because, in most cases, they will be able to pay something on that same day – but only if a collector brings it up. In the debt collection business, getting any money is always better than getting nothing at all. Absolute thinking – like the whole amount or nothing – may, at the end of the day, not yield any results
Create some sense of urgency
Some people respond well to a deadline. When there’s one in place, they tend to think and react faster than when there’s none .it even better when the deadline comes with some consequences.
Helping a defaulting client can seem counter-productive, but it’s the best thing that a creditor or their collector can do to recover money. Many debtors usually have debts from different creditors and have the power to prioritize who gets what. By being nice to them and showing some support, the debtor my corporate and even is a return client when everything goes back to normal
Debt collection is one of the hardest things that creditors deal with. It’s even tougher when the debtor is situated in a different country. That’s why most lenders prefer delegating the recovery expert debt collectors.
